The accommodation rental platform Airbnb has changed its rules for hosts and guests. From November 20, 2026, owners of apartments and houses will no longer be able to require guests who have already paid for cleaning to perform the duties of cleaners, such as washing dishes or stripping the bed linen. The new rules will apply to all bookings made after that date.

In addition, Airbnb will limit the number of house rules to seven standard items. The company explained the changes by user reviews complaining that the previous rules were confusing and burdensome.
Representatives of the platform told BBC journalists that they had reworked the system of rules to make them easier to find and understand. The new policy, they said, is designed to ensure that hosts' requests remain reasonable and that guests do not face unexpected obligations.
