Eric Barone, developer of Stardew Valley, has shared details about his next project, Haunted Chocolatier. According to him, the new game will differ markedly from its predecessor and will be closer to an action RPG in genre.
In an interview with GQ magazine, Barone said that Haunted Chocolatier will focus primarily on adventure, the search for equipment and character development. The game will feature monsters and battles with bosses. The developer explained that the game is aimed at those who enjoyed exploring the mines in Stardew Valley, where players fought monsters and gathered resources.
It is still what I call a "town game." But at the same time, Haunted Chocolatier is more of an action RPG. The main focus is on adventure, finding equipment and increasing the character's strength. The game has monsters and even battles with bosses.

The player will manage a confectioner who opens a shop in a haunted castle. As in Stardew Valley, where the goal was to develop a farm, here the task is to grow a chocolate business. No release date has been announced yet. Barone first announced work on the game in 2021.
The developer's previous game, the farming life simulator Stardew Valley, has sold more than 50 million copies.
