Sony has announced that Grand Theft Auto V will leave the PlayStation Plus subscription catalogue on November 17, 2026. Owners of PlayStation 5 consoles learned of this from a promotional notification that also offered them the chance to pre-order the next instalment, Grand Theft Auto VI. Its release is scheduled for November 19, just two days after the previous game disappears from the subscription.

Grand Theft Auto V will no longer be available under the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers. These subscription levels work on a game library principle: the user gains access to a large catalogue but loses it when a game is removed. To keep playing GTA V after November 17, subscribers will have to buy it separately. Gaming outlets report that this may be a strategic decision aimed at drawing maximum attention to the launch of the new game and not leaving players with a free alternative.

In the notification received by players, Sony directly links the two events: "If you're counting down the days until Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on PS5 on November 19, why not head to Los Santos in the meantime? Grand Theft Auto V is available in the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium catalogue, but only until November 17." Those who have not yet completed the story campaign centred on the three protagonists — Michael, Franklin and Trevor — are encouraged by the company to hurry.

Grand Theft Auto V returned to the PlayStation Plus catalogue about a year ago. Which other games will leave the service in November, Sony is due to announce later, on October 20.
