At a Tokyo exhibition marking the tenth anniversary of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima presented materials for his forthcoming game PHYSINT. It will be a spy action thriller, positioned as the spiritual heir to the Metal Gear Solid series.
Visitors to the exhibition were shown part of the game's design document. The Japanese original runs to more than 150 pages, and the English translation is around 50,000 words. The cover bears the slogan "A new Cold War begins." It also lists three methods of intelligence gathering: HUMINT, meaning work with human informants; SIGINT, signals interception; and OSINT, open-source intelligence. How exactly they will be used in the game has not yet been disclosed.

Kojima confirmed that Bill Skarsgård will play the lead role. He said that he and the actor have long followed each other's work.
We have long followed each other's work, and we are genuinely delighted to have the opportunity to work together on this project.
— Hideo Kojima, game designer
Besides the documents, the exhibition also featured a sculpture depicting the protagonist in five different guises. One of the models resembles the Metal Gear REX walking tank.
