Developers at edyan.dev and the publisher Fulqrum Publishing have invited players to try Inquisitor Simulator, a game about running an inquisitorial abbey. Testers will take on the grim duties of an abbot, employ dubious methods of interrogation, perform rites of exorcism and attend to administrative matters.

The game names faith, alchemy and "creative methods of interrogation" as the inquisitor's principal tools. The player must contain what can be contained and eradicate the rest. In the trial version, one can investigate the cases of possessed prisoners and drive the spirits out of them, brew potions, interrogate sinners and fight demons.

"The trial version demonstrates only a small part of the core mechanics, but we want to hear your feedback at an early stage so that we can build the best possible game for your enjoyment," the developers explained.

Among the game's features are protecting the innocent from demons and other monsters, using a library to expand one's knowledge, and employing a range of inquisitorial equipment to detect possession in prisoners. In addition, the player will need to oversee the state of the monastery and distribute work among the brother inquisitors.
