Armenia has joined the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and submitted a new application to include a site on the tentative list. The country's Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport reported this.
The application "Areni-1 Cave: Prehistoric Life and Winemaking in the Arpa River Valley" has been added to the list of candidates.
The application was prepared jointly by the ministry, the Areni-1 Cave Research Foundation, and the public organization "Armenian Wine Tourism Council." The latter financed the work.
