Soi Sim Beach in Ha Long Bay, closed since 2020, is preparing to reopen in early November. Deputy head of the Ha Long Bay–Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board said the final preparations are being completed so that tourists can be received again.
The beach ceased operations six years ago because of legal disputes. An inspection carried out in 2020 by the authorities of Quang Ninh Province found that the investor company did not have the necessary documents for the land and forest. As a result, the bay's management company could not conclude a lease agreement with it.
According to a representative of the management company, all the required documents have now been issued. This allows the beach to resume operations and receive visitors who come to the bay for recreation and tours.
In June, the American organization Corona Beach 100 included Soi Sim in its list of one hundred beaches around the world worth visiting in 2026. It is the only representative of Vietnam on that list.
The beach is located on the island of the same name, covering about 8.7 hectares. The island is known for its natural forest with many plants found only in Ha Long Bay. It takes its name from the old myrtle trees, called "sim" in Vietnamese, which in May cover the slopes of the hills with purple flowers.
