Armenia's Ministry of Internal Affairs has put forward a legislative initiative aimed at improving road safety and reducing traffic jams in Yerevan. The agency proposes revising the amounts of fines and the number of penalty points for certain traffic violations.

Specifically, the ministry proposes fining drivers 20,000 drams for parking in the second row, instead of the current 5,000 drams. The draft amendments have been put up for public discussion.

According to the ministry, research in the field of traffic safety shows that the current penalties for a number of violations are not strict enough.
