In the Armenian city of Gyumri, an accident occurred on a steel water pipeline that supplies water to the city from the Maisyan reservoir. Because the pipe, 1,000 millimetres in diameter, burst, the water supply to the city had to be stopped.
Representatives of the operating company, Veolia Water, said that because of the pipe's large diameter, it took considerable time to drain the system completely. Immediately afterwards, specialists from the company's Shirak division began repairs. Veolia Water assured the public that the crew would work through the night and make every effort to restore the water supply by morning, at the previously announced time.
