At the Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts Museum, the ninth exhibition, "Saigon and Hanoi Sculpture," is open until October 19. It presents 62 works by 36 authors — 19 from Ho Chi Minh City and 17 from Hanoi. Artists of different generations take part, creating a many-sided picture of contemporary Vietnamese art.
The sculptors have used a wide variety of materials: stone, wood, metal, plaster, ceramics, as well as composite compounds and other experimental substances. This diversity reflects the richness of approaches and artistic languages in contemporary Vietnamese sculpture.
The exhibition is conceived not only as a showcase of new works but also as a platform for professional exchange. It gives artists the opportunity to meet and share experience, which contributes to the development of sculpture in the country. The show builds a dialogue between different directions: contemporary and current art, academicism and the avant-garde, classicism and experimentation. Differences in the thinking and methods of artists from the north and south of the country become the basis for creative exchange and mutual learning.
Now held for the ninth time, the "Saigon and Hanoi Sculpture" exhibition has established itself as an important event in Vietnam's artistic life. Continuing this tradition gives young sculptors the chance to make their mark and strengthen professional ties between the two cultural centers.
