At the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation in Nicosia, the exhibition "Faith and Identity: Treasures from the Historical Museum of Armenia" has opened. It features pieces from the country's principal history museum, along with valuable examples of Armenian cultural heritage held on Cyprus and provided by the island's diocese of the Armenian Church.
The exhibition was organised at the initiative of the Embassy of Armenia in Cyprus. At the opening, Ambassador Inna Torgomyan said the display was far more than a showcase of historical treasures: it was a dialogue between two ancient Christian cultures and a symbol of the friendship between Armenia and Cyprus.
The ceremony was attended by Archbishop Georgios, head of the Cyprus Orthodox Church, the Cypriot deputy minister of culture, members of parliament, diplomats and figures from the Armenian community. The directors of the Historical Museum of Armenia and of the Byzantine Museum in Nicosia also gave speeches.
The exhibition will be open to visitors for six months, until 9 April 2027.
