The Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs has announced a competition for designers to create the first clothing collection in Russia for lovers of reading. The organizers hope that such clothing will help readers express themselves and become a link between literature and contemporary fashion.

The project envisages two clothing lines: one for young people and one for a more mature audience. The collection will include T-shirts, long-sleeved tops, sweatshirts and hoodies, as well as fabric accessories: tote bags, scarves and socks.

Participants are expected to produce not merely items with symbols, but a full-fledged fashion collection. According to the organizers' concept, designers should offer a fresh take on literary motifs, avoiding the usual images of books and eyeglasses, and reflect in their works a contemporary understanding of reading.

Applications for the competition are accepted until November 22, 2026. The authors of the best concepts will present their ideas in December at the non/fiction International Fair of Intellectual Literature. The works will be judged by literary critics, designers and publishers. The winners of the competition will be able to produce their collection, which will be presented to the public at the Red Square book festival in June 2027. Detailed conditions of participation are published on the website of the Directorate of MKVYa.
