A retrospective exhibition by Garri Gordon, artist, poet and writer, member of the Writers' Union of Moscow and laureate of the Gorky Literary Prize, is on view at the Museum and Exhibition Centre in Zarechny until November 7. The project was organised by the cultural and educational programme "Rosatom Culture Territory."

The display brings together 50 painted works. Some are devoted to the life of a small Black Sea town, while others are meditations on biblical themes. Gordon's style is associated with the South Russian school of painting, close to Impressionism. The canvases are accompanied by the author's poems, which were read aloud by actors from the Young Spectator Theatre.

At the opening, excerpts were screened from the film The Shepherd of His Cows, directed by the artist's son, Alexander Gordon, based on his father's novella of the same name. It is the story of a man who trades city life for village life.

He is an artist who writes in an unusual style. His distinctive technique is what makes his works so interesting.

— Sergei Lazarev, Director of the Museum and Exhibition Centre

Artist and Honoured Cultural Worker Tamara Arzyutova shared her impressions: in her words, the paintings seem as though they were made under the influence of a first impression of something seen in life or read in a book. She described Gordon's poems as close to and comprehensible to any reader.
