Creative Assembly has confirmed that Alien: Isolation 2 will have a physical edition. The developers announced this in a video in which they answered questions from fans. They explained the decision by a desire to remain faithful to the "analogue nature" of the 1979 film Alien, which serves as their main source of inspiration.

The second instalment will unfold a few months after the events of the first game, but in a new place: on the planet Kurosaki, a mining colony in industrial space. According to the developers, unlike the fairly clean station Sevastopol from the first part, players will encounter grimier industrial landscapes and harsh weather.
As in the original game, the protagonist will be hunted by a single xenomorph. However, open spaces will now be added to the familiar cramped interiors. Creative director Al Hope said the team aims to create a shift in feeling: at first the player will feel trapped and yearn to get outside, but on open ground they will gradually feel defenceless and want to return to cover.
I really like the idea that inside the rooms the player will feel trapped, experience claustrophobia and genuinely want to get out. But when they manage to do so, after the initial relief they will gradually begin to feel defenceless and vulnerable, and they will want to go back inside again.

The enemy's artificial intelligence has been reworked: the monster will learn to hunt in open terrain and will use bad weather to conceal its movements. Lead game designer James Green noted that roughly a third of the current team worked on the first part, while the new staff brought a fresh perspective to the development.
The news about the disc release comes against reports that Sony may stop producing discs for PlayStation in early 2028. Alien: Isolation 2 does not yet have an exact release date. The game is being developed for PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and the future Nintendo console. The publisher is SEGA.
